Black Hills National Forest
Everything isn’t always as it seems.
This happened to be the case with the seemingly majestic falls I captured in Custer State Park in October of 2015. Though the image’s angle suggests that the water is falling from great heights, in reality it was only falling about three feet. This shot demonstrates blending multiple photos together to get the final image that I really sought after.
When I stumbled across this small yet dramatic scene, I couldn’t help but see it as a mini tropical paradise at the end of Sunday Gulch Trail. The moss-covered rocks and logs gave this humble waterfall a truly majestic air.
Whether you choose to see this shot as a grand tropical oasis or the simple spring, it relays a beautiful and peaceful message.
