The Story

Singing Canyon in Grand Staircase Escalante is the first slot canyon we've ever visited. We first stopped by a visitor center in Escalante UT to learn about things to visit. Since Grand Staircase is massive and we only had a short time, they suggested the canyon which is about 10 miles from the town of Boulder.

Upon entering the canyon I wasn't sure what to expect. It was much darker and cooler than the surrounding desert landscape, I looked for an interesting location to shoot. Realizing that I couldn't capture the scene properly in a single image, I opted to bracket the image and manually blend the exposures to create the final shot.

The purples and reds coming from the smooth sandstone walls really stand out against the bright blue sky. I hope you enjoy this shot as much as I do.
